Workshops

I teach an introduction to machine embroidery and other techniques to small groups of adults. I also work with children, either in schools or in a less formal environment, and encourage creative development in a variety of techniques, but most particularly in stitch and other textile techniques. The 'Introduction to Free Machine Embroidery' class will take you from the basics of attaching a darning foot, to free motion embroidery, applique, machine wrapped cords and more. The projects are small, but a wealth of techniques will be covered and these skills can then be transferred to your own projects.

These images below are from the 'Joyful Arts' Painting with Thread workshop where fabric painting and free machine embroidery are combined. All the participants on this course were complete beginners, and all produced excellent work.
